The most reliable and easy to use method to detect hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in gaseous streams based on the established principle that H2S reacts specifically with lead acetate to form a lead sulfide brown stain. The concentration of H2S is directly proportional to the rate of change of staining on a lead acetate tape. This principle is selective for H2S and has no cross-fertilization with other components.
